The thing I love most about being trans is how much we live for each other. Growing up no one told me that my life was possible, but I caught whispers of it online from others living their life. All these years later, and I’m so happy to be carving out little spaces outside and inside the gender binary with other trans people.
Recently, I’ve been leaning more into the non-binary parts of my identity thanks to the brilliant non-binary femmes in my community. I don’t really care for the way both binary genders have been constructed in this society, especially when womanhood feels so actively hostile towards me sometimes. At the same time, there is something there that I’m really attached to. Being seen as a woman produces moments of gender euphoria for me, so it’s still part of my identity for now.
Professionally, I’m a fundraiser for Trans Lifeline which means I get to help create spaces for trans people to support and live for each other across North America. When I’m not working, you can find me facilitating mindfulness workshops for trans people, cooking, reading, or playing basketball (it gives me a reason to be tall).
