Since transitioning it’s felt like everything I think, want or do is political, and there’s always a right answer I search for. Taking a step back, I think that sense of responsibility, that I usually feel as a burden, is also a reflection of the power I have to represent the trans community positively. I’m still refining how to do that at the same time as (or even by way of) focusing on a career I love.
In the mean time I draw on the strength and wisdom of people who have left much bigger marks on the world — this year I’m trying to live by these words of Angela Davis: “I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”
