Victoria Adrianna Osoria

December 14, 2017 by Tristan Crane

I am a woman and it does matter who challenges it. I may overcome it but at the end of the day, those that challenge my identity and my personhood have committed an act of violence that either through ignorance or malice it will have lasting and damaging effects. My story didn’t begin nor end at transition. Neither did it begin or end when I came out. It began a long while ago and continued through my education, employment and housing searches, my mental illness, my health, my lack of finances and even my survival. Yet I just get left behind by the very communities that preach solidarity when we’re all caught up chasing some a romantic fantasy that hurts us all in the end. I just want to live.
